Our law firm is headed by Michael Short, who founded Bruce Short Solicitors in 1988, with a team of experienced and trainee solicitors working alongside him in various specialist legal roles within the company.

Bruce Short Solicitors office is in Dundee city centre near the police station and courts, and we mainly defend our clients’ court cases in Sheriff courts, Justice Of The Peace (JP) courts and High courts – not only in Dundee but in Fife, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Perth, Inverness and across Scotland.

Our criminal defence legal team look forward to working with you, and defending you in the best way possible as your defence lawyers.

 

Michael Short – Principal Partner

Michael founded Bruce Short in 1988 having developed a passion for criminal law after completing his traineeship. Michael deals primarily in Criminal matters, however, he also deals with legal issues arising in Mental Health law. Michael can act as a Notary Public. Before establishing Bruce Short Solicitors, Michael worked at the well known and respected firm of Ross Harper, and is an expert in Criminal Defence Representation in the Sheriff, JP and High Courts throughout Scotland with over 25 years experience as Defence Lawyer.

G. Paul Parker Smith – Partner

LL.B., Dip. L.P., N.P.

Paul has worked at Bruce Short Solicitors for a number of years and is the law firm’s Client Relations and Compliance Partner. Paul specialises in Criminal Law matters and regularly conducts trials throughout the whole of Scotland at Summary and Solemn level. Paul can also act as a Notary Public.

Gary Foulis – Partner

Gary is our law firm’s Training Partner. He regularly appears for clients in courts throughout Scotland in criminal matters and conducts parole hearings to the Parole Board for Scotland for Determinate Prisoners and Extended and Life Sentence Prisoners. Gary can also act as a Notary Public.
